Rangers told to U-turn on Morgan Whittaker deal after bid update – expert

Alan Hutton has claimed Rangers will soon need to halt their pursuit of Morgan Whittaker.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said it may now be up to Whittaker to force the issue of a move.

According to footballscotland (31 May), the Gers are prepared to make a fourth bid for the 22-year-old as Michael Beale looks to continue his summer overhaul.

But with Swansea City boss Russell Martin set to depart for Southampton, the Welsh club are not keen for any transfer incomings or outgoings until they have found a replacement.

The winger’s current contract runs until 2025 but has spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Plymouth.

When asked how long before Rangers should give up on the transfer, Hutton told Football Insider:I think it will be soon.

If you are talking about putting in three, four or five offers and they are all getting rejected, there needs to come a stage where the player gets involved. They need to say what move they want and force the club’s hand a little bit.

I think he is better on the right, coming in on the left, so there is still going to be room there to bring in another striker.

I think they need a couple of forward players in and the likes of Scott Wright, these guys might not be there next season. So there is a lot of gaps to fill.

In other news, another Rangers exit has been confirmed as official paperwork filed.
