Rangers told to U-turn on Ross McCausland deal after English move twist – expert

Rangers have been urged to U-turn on their decision to keep Ross McCausland this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said it would be better for McCausland’s development to head out on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

The 20-year-old had been attracting interest from clubs in Scotland, England and Belgium and the club were considering a loan deal for this season.

But, according to journalist Anthony Joseph (24 August), the Gers are likely to hold on to McCausland as Michael Beale has been impressed with his recent B team performances.

The Light Blues boss views the winger as a potential option for the first team this term.

The attacker has entered the final year of his contract and has made two appearances for the first team so far.

When asked if McCausland is likely to get more senior minutes this term, Hutton told Football Insider:He has been around the first team already so it kind of tells you what the manager thinks of him.

It is good to see youth players breaking into the first team because it shows that there is that pathway for everybody else that is looking from the outside.

The problem if you are a youngster, it is still going to be very difficult for him to break into the first team this season even though he is a fantastic footballer.

I just wonder about the decision. The manager clearly sees something in him and thinks he can add to what he has already got which is a good thing.

I always think at that age it is good to go out and play regular football. But the manager has made the call and he must feel that he needs him there or he would not keep him.

In other news, Rangers set for £25m+ payout – £4.3m already heading to Ibrox.
