Rangers TV pundit: Arfield getting ‘annoyed’ after Ibrox talks update
Alan Hutton has suggested Scott Arfield may be “annoyed” Rangers have not talked to him about his future at Ibrox.
The former Gers star and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 33-year-old would want to know the club’s plans for him moving forward.
Speaking to Sky Sports last Sunday (12 December), Arfield revealed he is still to speak to the club directly about a new contract, with his current terms expiring next summer.
He stated his “representatives” would be in discussions with the club about his future.
Arfield insisted things would become clearer when the club speak to him.
Asked if he was surprised Rangers have not held direct talks with Arfield, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Yeah. As a player, you want to know where your future’s at and if the club genuinely want you.
“So I think when your contract is running out, there’s not much time left and you still haven’t spoken to the club personally, it could be a little bit annoying for the player.
“I do understand from that point of view. Hopefully in the background, his agent is talking to the club. They’re maybe going back and forth and seeing where they can lead to.
“Hopefully those positive talks are happening and they’re allowing him to concentrate on the football side of it.”
Arfield joined Rangers on a free transfer after leaving Burnley in 2018.

He has made a total of 162 appearances for the Glasgow giants to date.
The Canada international has been a favourite of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, featuring in all seven games under the new manager.
