Hutton issues ‘huge’ Rangers board claim after £70m reveal
Alan Hutton has admitted the Rangers board will be “desperate” for Champions League money next season despite their “huge” financial growth this season.
The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Ibrox chiefs would want to continue boosting their coffers at an exponential rate.
As revealed by Football Insider last month (March 26), Rangers are set to record revenues of up to £70million this season, up from £59million and £47.7million for the past two years.

Sources have told this site that it would be a relatively “phenomenal” sum in the context of the club’s recent history.
However, Hutton insisted the Rangers board would be focused on trying to reach the financial goldmine that is the Champions League.
Reacting to the multi-million-pound reveal, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s huge. It just shows you where they’ve come from 10 years ago to where they are at this moment in time.
“I think obviously the Europa League has a lot to do with that, the money that’s coming in. Every round you go through, that money goes up.
“Added on to that, you think of the turnover from the home games, and the money they’ll make. They’re in a good space right now.
“If they can achieve their goals through the season, go as far in Europe as possibly go straight into the Champions League, it’s even more money there to be earned.

“The hierarchy at Rangers will know that and they’ll be desperate for it. I think they’re in a comfortable place. Hopefully, it can just get better.”
Rangers are in the quarter-finals of the Europa League but six points off Celtic in the Premiership title race.
