Rangers TV pundit makes 'massive' Goldson claim as new signing touted amid contract update
Alan Hutton has insisted Connor Goldson has taken a “massive gamble” by not signing a new contract at Rangers.
The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Light Blues would “move on” and sign a replacement for the 29-year-old if he does not pen new terms.
Football Insider revealed on 2 December that Goldson had rejected a new contract offer from Rangers.
The latest from an Ibrox source today is that Goldson is increasingly unlikely to commit to a new deal.
The centre-back’s current terms expire at the end of the season and he can leave on a free transfer.
However, Hutton insisted the big payday Goldson wants might not be forthcoming.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “To run down your contract and hopefully get a bigger club in the Premier League, it might not happen.
“So you’re taking a massive gamble and Rangers won’t stand still. They’ll go ahead and look to their targets who they want to bring in if Connor Goldson isn’t willing to sign a contract.
“I think from his side it is a big risk. Rangers could move on. I understand he’s the vice-captain. He probably wants a decent contract.
“Obviously Rangers feel they’ve offered that. He’s sat on the fence at the moment and it’s a dangerous game to play.”
Goldson has been a near ever-present at the heart of the defence for Rangers in recent seasons.
The Gers confirmed the loan signing of utility man James Sands on Wednesday (5 January).
The 21-year-old can play in both midfield and defence.
