Rangers TV pundit slams Ibrox stars ‘not good enough’ after Giovanni van Bronckhorst confession
Alan Hutton has insisted there are “no excuses” for the lack of quality shown by Rangers in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Dundee United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit admitted the Light Blues were “not good enough” in the final third despite creating a multitude of chances.
As quoted by Sky Sports on Sunday (20 February), Giovanni van Bronckhorst confessed Rangers “created enough chances to win”.
He claimed his players’ finishing was the “only thing” they failed to do well.
Rangers had 30 shots at Tannadice but only three were on target (Sky Sports).
Hutton absolved blame from the attackers and insisted the entire team failed to deliver on Sunday.
“If you have 29, 30 efforts towards goal, you’re expected to score at least a few goals,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“I think the first real bit of quality was the goal. That was what, 76 minutes in? That’s not good enough.
“They’re getting into the right areas, they’re maybe snatching at things. There was a pull on Sakala that I thought could have possibly been a penalty but there are no excuses.
“I think if you’re out there on the pitch and you’re coming up with different patterns of play and you’re creating opportunities, you have to be more clinical.
“That’s a team thing, that’s not one person. Everybody has to do better. It’s something I’m sure the manager will be working on for the games that are coming up.”

Rangers currently sit second in the Premiership table, three points behind Celtic.
The Gers face Borussia Dortmund at Ibrox on Thursday in their Europa League knockout playoff.
