Sources: Rangers make approach to sign Stoke City star Josh Tymon

Rangers have made an enquiry for Stoke City defender Josh Tymon, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Glasgow giants are in the market for an attacking full-back who can slot into the left side of their defence.

A Rangers source has told Football Insider that the club have registered their interest in signing Tymon, 23, in the summer window.

Stoke are braced for offers for the left-back, who played almost every minute of their 2021-22 campaign.

It comes as Rangers face the prospect of losing one of their two senior left-backs this summer.

Calvin Bassey, who played half the recent season at left-back and the other half at centre-back, has been targeted by Premier League clubs.

Borna Barisic could also leave Ibrox after four years and 155 matches for the Light Blues.

Tymon is on Rangers’ radar at a time when Stoke could be forced to cash in on some of their prize assets.

He has a contract that runs until the summer of 2025 after penning an extension last November.

That means Rangers and other suitors will have to pay a multi-million pound fee to lure one of the Championship’s most reliable left-backs.

Stoke signed Tymon from Hull City when he was just 18 and he has been an important member of their team since.

He’s an attacking full-back who likes to get forward and accumulated a remarkable 48 appearances in 2021-22, all of which were in the starting XI.
