Sources: Rangers offer Wilson ‘biggest youngster deal in club’s history’ after Van Bronckhorst talks

Rangers have offered Rory Wilson the most lucrative first year professional deal in the club’s history, Football Insider understands.

But the wonderkid striker, 16, has knocked it back and made it clear he wants to quit Ibrox this summer.

A Rangers source has told Football Insider that Wilson and his family have met with director of football Ross Wilson and manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who tried to sell the club to them in a bid to get the youngster to stay.

But Wilson has nonetheless informed the Glasgow giants he wants to leave in the summer.

He appears headed south of the border amid extensive interest from Premier League big guns.

Wilson, who turned 16 in January, is able to sign a pro deal at Rangers as Scottish rules allow them from the age of 16.

In England, he would need to wait 10 months to do so.

However, top clubs down south are lining up to offer Wilson a scholarship contract that would be converted into a full-time deal when he is 17.

Losing such a prodigious talent would be a major blow for Rangers, who were unable to stop Billy Gilmour heading to Chelsea at the same age.

Wilson has banged in 40 goals for the Gers youth teams this season and also has seven in six matches for Scotland Under-17s.
