Rangers work on January loan signings as £4.1m news confirmed – sources
Rangers are set to prioritise loan deals in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gers’ board, including new CEO Patrick Stewart, are keen to strengthen in the new year after mixed results in the 2024-25 campaign so far.
However, money will be tight at Ibrox and they will be forced to move for available loan targets if they are to make improvements.
In their latest accounts for the 2023-24 season, Rangers’ net losses increased by £4.1million to £17.2million across the period.
The Glasgow giants already have Vaclav Cerny on a season-long loan – one of ten signings in the most recent summer transfer window.
However, it is believed Rangers are keen to add to their squad with the club likely to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.
Rangers will be limited to loan signings in the new year
The Gers also have work to do if they are to overhaul Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership and put pressure on leaders Celtic.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (16 December) that Rangers are plotting a move to sign NK Osijek defensive midfielder Marko Soldo – but the Croatian outfit will demand a “huge fee”.
Clement’s side also dipped into the loan market in January of this year, adding trio Fabio Silva, Mohamed Diomande and Óscar Cortés to their ranks.

Rangers sit third in the Scottish Premiership but are only two points behind Aberdeen with a game in hand on the Dons.
The Gers, who lost in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday (15 December), have virtually qualified for a knockout play-off clash in the Europa League in February.
