Sources: Rangers submit big-money Jack Wylie offer after Premier League giants talks
Rangers are pulling out all the stops to keep hold of in-demand teen sensation Jack Wylie, sources have told Football Insider.
The teenage defender, 15, has caught the eye of scouts from the Premier League big guns while playing for the Glasgow giants’ youth sides and also for Scotland Under-16s.
Wylie is not eligible to sign professional forms until he turns 16 in January, raising fears that his English suitors could look to lure him away from Ibrox.
Rangers do not want to bid farewell to any more of their young stars after losing Billy Gilmour to Chelsea and Rory Wilson to Aston Villa in recent years.
They are rolling out the red carpet to convince Wylie his development is best served by staying at Ibrox.
In addition to a lucrative first-year professional deal, director of football Ross Wilson and club chiefs are working hard to get a deal done ahead of January.
They are well aware of the interest from south of the border.
Man United, Arsenal and Leeds United have all registered their interest in Wylie and are in dialogue with the player’s camp.
Football Insider broke the news on 28 March that the Wilson had rejected the most lucrative first-year professional deal in the Glasgow club’s history to make it clear he wanted to quit Ibrox for Villa.
Ross Wilson and ex-manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst tried to sell the club to Wilson and his family in a bid to get the youngster to stay.
But those talks failed and he moved to Villa for a cross-border development fee of just £300,000.
The Midlands giants offered a mega-money contract that, according to one source with knowledge of the situation, left Ibrox staff “stunned”.
