Rangers youngster named in SPFL team of the week after win v Partick Thistle

By Harvey Byrne

Rangers youngster Myles Beerman has been named in the SPFL team of the week following his impressive display against Partick Thistle at the weekend.

The 18-year-old started the Ibrox clash in the left-back position, playing the full 90 minutes as goals from Kenny Miller and Jon Toral helped the Gers to a vital three points.

The teenager impressed onlookers as he made several surging runs down the left side of the pitch and on Tuesday he received credit as the only Rangers man to be named in the SPFL team of the week, as announced on their official Twitter account.

Beerman completed a move to the Glasgow giants in the summer of 2016 after being released by Premier League side Manchester City.

It took him up to April and an injury to Lee Wallace for him to make his senior debut for the Gers in a 0-0 match against Kilmarnock.

He has since featured twice more with the Partick clash being just his third, but with performances like the one at the weekend fans will now be excited to see what more is to come.

Additionally, Rangers will be taking on fierce rivals Celtic at Hampden on Sunday and Beerman will be keen to play in his first Old Firm derby.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has reacted to speculation that Neil McCann has landed the Dundee job.
