Raphinha aims sly dig at Man City star after fall-out
Raphinha has seemingly hit out at Man City midfielder Rodri after his recent interview regarding the Ballon d’Or controversy.
In an interview on the Spanish TV show El Hormiguero, Rodri, 28, shared his thoughts on edging out Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior to claim football’s most prestigious individual honour.
When asked about the Brazilian, Rodri said, “I think Vini is a smart guy and with time he will realize that the more you pay attention on the field, the better you will be. Athletes are not just what they represent on the field, but also off it.”
The defensive midfielder has plenty of time on his hands after being ruled out for the rest of the season, having torn his ACL in City’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Arsenal.
Raphinha unimpressed with Man City ace Rodri
The 27-year-old is in the form of his life under new Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 14 La Liga appearances.
Like many of his fellow Brazilians, the former Leeds winger felt aggrieved by Vinicius Jr’s Ballon d’Or snub, taking to Instagram to seemingly aim a sly dig at Rodri.

Rodri was always going to be a huge miss for Man City, but it’s unlikely many would have expected just how badly it’s gone for Pep Guardiola’s side since his injury.
With five consecutive defeats across all competitions, City’s upcoming Premier League game on Sunday (December 1) could be an early title decider.
