Rashford reacts to Lamine Yamal’s Barcelona announcement ahead of Man United exit

Marcus Rashford reacted to an announcement from Barcelona star Lamine Yamal ahead of a mooted Man United exit.

The English winger has been angling for a move to the Catalan giants for much of the summer as there appears to be no way back in at his boyhood club.

Blaugrana are in need of a left-winger this summer after Raphinha spent most of last season filling in there out of position, although his performances suggested that another campaign on the left would not be an issue.

The club looked poised to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club, but that deal fell through, and it appears that Barcelona will now press forward for one of Luis Diaz, Rashford, or, somewhat surprisingly, Chelsea outcast Christopher Nkunku.

However, following a fine from UEFA, the Catalonian club once again finds themselves in a difficult financial position, and former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider exclusively that Rashford’s move to Barcelona may have to be a temporary one.

Lamine Yamal announced as new number 10

Following Ansu Fati’s move to AS Monaco, joining former Man United star Paul Pogba in Ligue 1, the coveted number 10 shirt became available at Barcelona.

But not for long, as Yamal was quickly bestowed the number worn previously by legends such as Diego Maradona, Rivaldo, and of course, Lionel Messi.

The youngster shared several images of himself on Instagram, captioned: “Mi número. Mi historia. Mi camino. x10.” which translates to “My number. My history. My way. Number 10.”

The post was liked by Rashford and other Premier League stars, including Richarlison, Joao Felix, and Savinho.

Rashford deserves a club who want him

Football Insider Verdict

Seeing Rashford angling for a move to a club that so clearly views him as a second choice is disheartening.

The English forward is supremely talented, but his dedication to United and yearning for Catalonia speak to a player who wants to be revered, but does not realise that a toxic situation is not one he thrives in.

It came as no surprise that Rashford’s move to Aston Villa was a success, because he moved to a club with stability throughout at a leadership level, under a manager who had a clear vision not only for how his team should play, but where the 27-year-old featured in that tactical set-up.

Barcelona have a spot in their team that would suit the England international, but the Camp Nou is a pressure cooker much like Old Trafford, and it’s safe to say that if things go wrong, Rashford would once again become an easy target.
