Rasmus Hojlund reacts to next Man United manager message after Ruben Amorim sack

Rasmus Hojlund has reacted to Darren Fletcher becoming Man United’s interim manager on social media after Ruben Amorim was sacked.

Amorim’s 14-month spell in charge of Man United came to an end on Monday, following a 1-1 draw with rivals Leeds United at Elland Road.

His side had won just one of their last five games before his dismissal, but the decision looks to have mainly been taken because of long-term uncertainty around his tactics and disagreements on transfers.

Amorim allowed Hojlund to leave United in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, as he moved to Napoli on loan, with an obligation to buy him for £38million if they qualify for the Champions League.

Hojlund has impressed at Napoli so far, after feeling like he was not handed enough chances under Amorim last season, and he has now taken to social media to show his pleasure at the 40-year-old being dismissed.

Hojlund likes post on Fletcher being appointed as interim United boss

The Danish striker has netted nine goals in 20 appearances for the Serie A side so far this season, leaving many United fans wondering why they let Hojlund go, considering their own woes in the final third.

He seemingly has no future at Old Trafford, with Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna admitting that he considers his permanent transfer from United a “formality,” as they currently sit third in the Italian top-flight.

Amorim’s dismissal means that Under-18s boss Fletcher is set to be the Red Devils’ interim manager until a permanent successor is hired, which is clearly a move that Hojlund is a fan of.

Reporter Fabrizio Romano covered the news of Fletcher’s new role with a post on Instagram, which Hojlund duly left a like on, potentially highlighting his disdain for Amorim.

Amorim should regret Hojlund snub amid contrasting fortunes

Amorim was happy to let Hojlund leave Old Trafford in the summer, after Benjamin Sesko was signed with high hopes from RB Leipzig.

Sesko is yet to get going in a United shirt, with two goals in 17 appearances, and his lack of contributions have played a clear part in the 40-year-old’s sacking.

Amorim admitted he had no regrets over selling the Dane in November, as it would have been “impossible to manage a dressing room” that included him and Sesko, but the last few months have shown that he surely would have been better off keeping him around.

The Portuguese manager is now out of work, while Hojlund is in good form as Napoli chase a successive Serie A title, which shows just how quickly things can change in football.
