Ratcliffe, INEOS ‘will settle’ after Tottenham sue Man United minority owners
Tottenham claimed victory over Man United in the Europa League final back in May and could be set for another win over the Red Devils’ ownership off the pitch.
Less than a month after pipping Ruben Amorim‘s side to silverware in Bilbao, the club’s owners are now facing legal action from the North London side due to INEOS’ actions.
According to The Telegraph (13 June), Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s INEOS have been taken to the High Court after being in talks since February about wanting to pull out of a multi-million pound five-year deal with Spurs.
The agreement with Daniel Levy‘s side included a commercial angle for Ineos Automotive Limited, with the Ineos Grenadier car becoming the Lilywhites’ “official 4×4 vehicle partner”.
With the two parties unable to come to a conclusion, and INEOS facing a similar situation with the New Zealand All Blacks rugby union team, finance expert Stefan Borson has stated what punishment Ratcliffe could be facing.

INEOS expected to settle as Tottenham, Man United battle rumbles on
Answering a fan’s question about the situation, Borson took to X (13 June), writing: “Just sponsorship termination. Won’t be very interesting and will settle.”
Man United’s on-pitch misery compounded behind the scenes
Football Insider verdict
Misery appears to be surrounding those at Old Trafford, with Amorim under great pressure at Man United despite only arriving from Sporting CP in November.
Ratcliffe has already been forced to employ cost-cutting measures in Manchester, with several hundred staff being made redundant while the players continue to make hundreds of thousands of pounds a week.
While many supporters are expecting a summer of change within the current squad, the club’s financial situation is likely to hinder some deals moving forward, especially without several outgoings.

Despite the obvious monetary issues, the Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, with another star potentially arriving from Brentford, though Bryan Mbeumo could now join Tottenham.
INEOS’ current situation with Spurs has certainly not brought any more positive publicity to Old Trafford, but if the two parties can agree to settle, this long charade can be left behind.
The Red Devils are currently in a very big rut, both on and off the pitch, and with no end of the tunnel in sight yet, supporters are being taken on a long and frustrating journey by the owners.
