Ratcliffe ‘is worse than the Glazers’ after Man United twist – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s leadership at Man United is “worse than the Glazers”.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – hit out at the UK billionaire for concessionary raising ticket prices in his latest “poor decision”.

Man United have come under fire after raising the cost of tickets for members to £66 and removing concession prices for the rest of the season.

Those tickets previously started at £40 for adults and £25 for children, with 97 per cent of the seats in Old Trafford already sold.

The club say the rises are part of an aim to put the Red Devils on a “stronger financial footing”.

But United fans protested against the price hike outside Old Trafford ahead of their game against Everton earlier this month (1 December).

Wyness hits out at Ratcliffe’s running of Man United

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’s poor decision after poor decision.

“With the size of the fanbase globally, there’s different ways to monetise things globally without impacting the match-going fans so much.

“I really think this will be marginal, when you look at the amount they will make in the grand scheme of things.

“It’s a poor decision, very bad optics.

“Everyone was praising Ratcliffe as a fresh start after the Glazers – he’s turned out to be probably even worse.”
