Ray Parlour believes that Chelsea’s strong defence could guide them to the Premier League title this season.
The Blues are currently at the top of the league table and have a six-point gap ahead of second-placed Liverpool.
Antonio Conte’s side have been in sensational form recently and set a club record 12th consecutive league victory against Bournemouth on Tuesday.
Chelsea’s defence has been at the heart of their success and they have kept 10 clean sheets during that run.
Ex-Arsenal midfielder Parlour feels that Chelsea’s backline could go on to help them win the title this season.
“They’re so defensively strong,” Parlour wrote on Sky Sports. “That could win them the league this year, and this was another clean sheet (against Bournemouth).”
Chelsea have enjoyed tremendous success since Conte switched to a three-man defence after the defeat to Arsenal.
David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill has formed a great understanding at the defence and look very strong against opposition striker.
Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is also showing why he is regarded as one of the best in the world and has pulled off some match winning saves recently.
Chelsea’s defence is completed with wing-backs Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso, who work tirelessly up and down the flanks.
Conte has found the perfect defensive combination and they will be desperate for another shut out in their next game against Stoke.
