Ray Parlour is “amazed” that Romelu Lukaku has decided against signing a new contract with current club Everton.
Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that the 23-year-old hotshot would not be signing a new deal with the Merseyside club, despite the club willing to make Lukaku their highest earner.
Ex-Arsenal star Parlour gave his opinion on Lukaku’s decision on Alan Brazil’s Breakfast Show on talkSPORT, as he believes the Toffees have a chance of a top-four finish next season.
“Ronald Koeman is building something special at Everton,” Parlour said, as quoted by Brazil’s personal Twitter account.
“If they don’t get into the top four next season you can see that maybe he does move on. If the owner makes a big investment in the summer then I can see Everton having a very good season.
“I’m amazed by it (Lukaku), I really am, but that’s the way football has gone I’m afraid.”

The Belgium international has just over two years remaining on his current deal with the Goodison Park outfit, but could now leave in the summer.
Former Anderlecht striker Lukaku has been in sublime form for the Toffees this term, scoring 20 times in 29 games as well as laying on another six goals in assists for his side.
However, it looks increasingly unlikely that the Toffees will come through the summer with Lukaku still remaining on Merseyside as he rejects the offer of a new deal.
In other Everton transfer news, this 27-year-old striker has revealed that he wants to play for the Toffees next season.
