Ray Wilkins predicts Crystal Palace v Tottenham, shares which side will be flying

By Matt Farr

Ray Wilkins has suggested that Tottenham could struggle to overcome Crystal Palace in their upcoming Premier League meeting.

Tottenham travel to Selhurst Park looking to maintain the pressure on league leaders Chelsea in the title race, but they are going up against a spirited side that have claimed three prize scalps in recent weeks.

Crystal Palace took a major step towards Premier League survival with a priceless away win over Liverpool on Sunday, having earlier defeated both Chelsea and Arsenal.

But Wilkins believes they can perform a similar upset against Tottenham, who will be reeling from their 4-2 FA Cup semi final defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

Speaking live on the Premier League Daily show on Sky Sports on Tuesday, he said: “I think Palace will be flying. I have a little feeling Palace will take something off Tottenham tomorrow. It’s going to be a really tough game.

“They won at Stamford Bridge, have beaten Arsenal, they won at Anfield. When they went a goal down, I thought ‘oops, how many is this going to be’, but they show a little bit of resilience now.

“I think they’ll draw, Palace. They might even go on and win. I think this is a really tough game for Tottenham.”

Tottenham must win to keep their faint hopes of winning the Premier League title alive, especially if Chelsea beat Southampton on Tuesday night.

A win for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge could send them seven points clear of Tottenham ahead of their clash with Crystal Palace, which could all but end Spurs’ hopes of a late surge in the title race.

Tottenham pushed Leicester to the limit in last year’s Premier League title race, only to capitulate when the going got tough and slip to a third-place finish.
