Rayan Cherki shares photo with James McAtee after Man City reject bid

Rayan Cherki shared a photo of himself with James McAtee after Manchester City rejected a bid for their English youngster.

Rumours of McAtee’s exit from City began to travel when Pep Guardiola left him out of his Club World Cup squad last month.

However, the academy graduate still had success of his own this summer, as he captained England’s under-21 side to European Championship glory.

His performance at the tournament in Slovenia raised his stock further, and there are a number of teams in the Premier League and abroad interested in his services.

Man City reject Nottingham Forest bid for McAtee

Earlier this month, sources told Football Insider that Man City will sell McAtee this summer with an eye on generating “pure profit” for their PSR.

The 22-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad after the summer signings of Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders.

On Tuesday (29 July), it was reported that Nottingham Forest have had a £25m bid for McAtee rejected by City, as Guardiola’s side hold out for a bigger fee (Sky Sports).

With his future in doubt, the Englishman was in a photo shared by teammate Cherki on Instagram.

City’s summer signing posted a picture of himself, McAtee, and four other teammates at pre-season training, with the caption: “Back at it.”

Leeds eye Man City midfielder

Meanwhile, Leeds United reportedly remain interested in a potential reunion with Kalvin Phillips as he prepares to leave Man City before the transfer window closes.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the 29-year-old’s future is expected to be resolved next month.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Phillips will not leave Man City until he has recovered from an achilles injury, with an August comeback likely.

Leeds are believed to have been keeping an eye on his situation at the Etihad and have long been linked with a possible reunion should an agreeable deal be reached.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 17 March that Phillips is pushing for a return to Leeds as he is widely expected to leave Man City for good.
