Rayan Cherki to Everton: O’Rourke shares update today

Everton are expected to revisit their interest in Rayan Cherki in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Merseyside giants are set to once again look at “potential targets” who they have previously been linked with.

Cherki falls into the category as the Lyon star is someone who Everton have been interested in signing previously.

Football Insider revealed that Ernest Nuamah is someone else that Everton will look into signing once again as well after previously monitoring him.

Cherki would bring attacking qualities to Goodison Park, having scored four goals and provided six assists in 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season.

Everton will also have the chance to sign Jesper Lindstrom in the summer transfer widow, but it has been cconfirmed by Football Insider that the decision will be down to David Moyes.

Rayan Cherki‘s plan revealed amid Everton interest

Even though Moyes might push the club to look into Cherki again, signing the 21-year-old could be difficult to make happen.

Well-placed sources revealed to Football Insider that the France Under-21 international would prefer to join a club that is playing Champions League football if he is to leave Lyon.

The attacking midfielder is going to demand playing at the highest level in the game and because of that, he could end up outside Everton’s range, leaving them to look elsewhere.

David Moyes is setting up a new recruitment process

Another reason why Everton may look elsewhere is because of the new recruitment policy that Moyes is trying to implement, which is to focus on young, British footballers.

The Everton boss is willing to dip into the Championship to make that happen, as he wants to build a squad for the future.

Football Insider revealed that the Merseyside giants are set to reignite their interest in West Brom winger Tom Fellows during the summer transfer window.
