Real Madrid to be disappointed as Liverpool star on brink of new contract

Liverpool have issues a firm hands-off warning to Real Madrid after they added Ryan Gravenberch to their list of potential midfield reinforcements.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Arne Slot‘s side are not prepared to entertain offers for the midfielder.

Gravenberch’s performances for Liverpool have earned high praise in recent weeks, while he played a key role and scored as Liverpool beat Everton 2-1 at Anfield.

Having started five of Liverpool’s six games in all competitions so far this season, Gravenberch is still adding new elements to his game, having scored two goals in that time.

The Netherlands international has established himself as a key part of the starting XI since the beginning of last season, and remains a crucial part of their plans for the future.

Slot has also been credited for his work with Gravenberch, who had initially looked out of place under Jurgen Klopp, but interested clubs have also taken not of his form.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted while there may be interest in the midfielder, he is happy and thriving at Liverpool with no plans to leave.

Liverpool are not going to listen to any offers for Gravenberch,” he told Football Insider.

“I can’t see any reason they would want to let him go, because he’s become a really important player and is showing exactly what he can bring to that midfield.

“He’s done a really solid job for them since Slot came in, and now he’s adding goals to his game.

“I’m told Liverpool are very happy with him, so why would they want to sell him?

“They’re trying to build a team that can consistently win Premier League and Champions League titles, and he can play a big role in that.

“With their new players coming in, they’ll need time to adapt, but Gravenberch is always reliable.

“I always say, interest from Real Madrid is always an interesting one for players, so the only way would be if he decides he wants to make that move.

“But he’s happy at Liverpool and playing some very good football, so I see no reason he would want to leave, and there’s no way they’ll want to let him go.”

Despite recent speculation about his future, there is no way Liverpool will allow the midfielder to leave while he has no intentions of pursuing an exit.

New Liverpool contract on the horizon

Reports have now claimed that Liverpool plan to reward Gravenberch’s recent form with the offer of a new contract to display his importance to the team. [talkSPORT]

While his current deal is set to run until 2028, with no imminent threat of losing him, there is a desire to ensure his long-term future is tied down.

Real Madrid are believed to be long-term admirers in the midfielder, and while their interest may prove tempting, he is keen to remain at Liverpool for the foreseeable future.

Gravenberch was linked with a move away from Liverpool in January, but reports at the time explained he had no desire to leave Anfield despite the interest.

That situation is not believed to have changed, with the Reds’ offer of a new contract coming as a welcome boost for him to commit his long-term future.
