Real Madrid ‘very interested’ in signing second Liverpool star after Trent

Liverpool could be set to lose more first-team stars this summer following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s expected move to Real Madrid.

Sources say the 26-year-old has already agreed the move to Los Blancos and the move is only awaiting confirmation from both clubs before the season ends.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have now signed new contracts at Anfield, but no agreement could be reached with the right-back.

Liverpool could face another contract standoff next season with Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher and Andy Robertson’s deals all set to expire in 2026.

As a result, Football Insider revealed on 14 April that Liverpool have made Konate’s contract their priority and Richard Hughes is leading the push for an agreement.

Liverpool could lose Ibrahima Konate after Real Madrid latest

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Konate could be the next player to leave Anfield this summer amid interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs.

Sources say Real Madrid are “very interested” in the 25-year-old while PSG are also interested in tempting him to move back to France.

Football Insider revealed in March that Konate could leave Liverpool if they cannot reach an agreement over his contract in a last-ditch effort to raise funds.

After Alexander-Arnold agreed to join Real Madrid, and the uncertainty caused by the Salah and Van Dijk sagas, Liverpool are keen to avoid a similar situation.

In the meantime, they have already begun considering replacements for the centre-back and are targeting more long-term options at the back.

Industry insider Mick Brown told Football Insider on 13 March that Liverpool want Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen as their top targets ahead of the summer window.

Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz on summer exit list

Konate is not the only first-team star to be linked with a move away from Anfield this summer as Liverpool eye a potential overhaul of their squad.

Brown told Football Insider on 15 April that Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz could leave Liverpool as they are no longer a part of Slot’s long-term plans.

Football Insider revealed on 14 April that Liverpool will consider mega-money offers for Diaz and plan to accept offers upwards of £60million.

Meanwhile, Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool, while Jota has attracted surprise interest from Arsenal and would be allowed to leave for the right fee.
