Real Madrid will surely come calling for Tottenham player likened to Lionel Messi
Tottenham bounced back from their defeat against Chelsea in the Premier League with an impressive performance in the Champions League.
Thomas Frank watched on in delight as Tottenham smashed Copenhagen 4-0 to continue their unbeaten run in the competition.
On a remarkable night for the north London side, Xavi Simons had arguably his best game for Spurs since joining from RB Leipzig in the summer, while Brennan Johnson’s red card angered fans.
The biggest talking point to emerge from the contest, though, was Micky van de Ven’s outrageous solo goal, storming forward from one end of the pitch to the other before finishing the ball like a striker.
It’s a goal the Dutchman will remember forever, and one that could attract unwanted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Real Madrid will surely try to sign Micky van de Ven
Spurs have a history of losing some of their best players. In the 2010s, supporters suffered the heartbreak of watching Gareth Bale and Luka Modric join Real Madrid.
That is why fans should be concerned that their complete defender could become the next player to make the switch.
Van de Ven has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, as Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that his head could be turned.
Real Madrid is also a possible destination for Van de Ven after his agent added fuel to the speculation by suggesting he’s good enough to play for Los Blancos.
Although Frank has already shut down talk of Van de Ven joining Real, it’s the next big step he can arguably take in his career.
At the age of 24 and boasting the potential to become arguably the best on the planet, surely it’s only a matter of time before he favours a switch to the Spanish giants.
Ultimately, most players are spurred on by winning trophies and Real Madrid is the best destination to achieve that.
Thomas Frank likened Van de Ven to Lionel Messi after wonder goal
Van de Ven placed himself further in the headlines on Tuesday after scoring that incredible solo goal, and according to Frank, he turned into former Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
“But it seems like we had Lionel Messi turned into Micky van de Ven running down from his own goal and all the way to the other end and scored a fantastic goal,” Frank said. “I think he’s our top scorer in all competitions, so he can keep going.”
Messi created a career out of terrorising opposition defences with his low centre of gravity and unstoppable dribbling style, even doing so on numerous occasions against Real Madrid.
So, after watching the Spurs centre-back burst past players like a prime Messi, Real would have been having flashbacks to when the little Argentine tore them apart.
