‘Really nasty’ Ideguchi injury is major ‘blow’ to Celtic update – McAvennie
Yosuke Ideguchi has had the “perfect welcome to Scotland” after going off injured for Celtic against Alloa at the weekend.
That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after an update on the midfielder’s fitness.
The 25-year-old was making his first start for the club when he was scythed down against Alloa on 22 January.
As quoted by Glasgow Evening Times (24 January), Ange Postecoglou described the injury as “painful” and claimed Ideguchi will be missing for “a little bit”.
McAvennie admits the injury looked “nasty” and hopes the player can return soon.
“Two of our boys got injured in that Alloa game,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I won’t have a go at Alloa but I don’t know how the boy who tackled Ideguchi didn’t get sent off.
“It looked a really nasty injury as well. It’s a blow to lose him for any length of time.
“Welcome to Scotland, son. That was the perfect welcome to life in Scotland.
“Maybe it’s the best thing for him. The pace of the game is quicker up here and being hit a few times might just alert them to that.
“Listen, I just hope he gets back soon and can help us out because we will have no midfielders soon.“

Ideguchi made his Celtic debut off the bench on 17 January as fellow Japanese signings Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate started.
Maeda scored in that game while Hatate broke his duck in the Hoops’ 2-1 win over Hearts on Wednesday (26 January).
In other news, a pundit has claimed one Celtic star could make a “shock” return from injury against Rangers next month.
