Reece James and Bruno Fernandes react to Pedro Neto’s passionate message

Reece James and Bruno Fernandes were among several Premier League stars to respond as Pedro Neto shared a message while away on international duty.

Neto wrapped up his debut season at Chelsea on a high, with the club securing Champions League qualification and lifting the UEFA Conference League trophy.

The Portuguese winger arrived from Wolves in a £54 million move last summer, but his performances at Stamford Bridge have been under the microscope.

Chelsea fans grew frustrated earlier in the season and criticised Neto for his lack of end product given the hefty price tag. He registered just four Premier League goals across 35 appearances, despite regularly being preferred on the wing.

Nevertheless, with club football now on pause, Neto’s focus has shifted to international matters with the Nations League semi-finals underway.

Pedro Neto celebrates Portugal victory over Germany in Nations League semi-final

The domestic season may have only just concluded, but international football has already taken focus as Portugal secured a 2-1 win over Germany in the Nations League semi-final.

Florian Wirtz, who is edging closer to a big-money move to Liverpool, opened the scoring early on, but the 2019 Nations League champions fought back with goals from Francisco Conceicao and Cristiano Ronaldo to book their place in the final.

Neto started the game and later posted a message on Instagram to thank the supporters, writing: “Vamos [Portugal]. Thank you for the support.”

His message received support from teammates both at club and international level. Man United’s Fernandes commented: “Pedrinho” while James, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Cucurella all liked the post.

While Neto endured a disappointing debut campaign at Chelsea, managing just six goals in all competitions, it’s clear his place within the national team setup remains intact.

Portugal will now await the winner of the Spain vs France clash, as they look to become two-time Nations League champions.

With the summer transfer window officially open, the Blues are already active in reshaping their squad.

Chelsea have already decided against pursuing a permanent deal for Jadon Sancho and are instead targeting reinforcements out wide, with Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens high on their shortlist.

Football Insider previously revealed that Chelsea have interest in Gittens and their pursuit has intensified in recent days.

Given Sancho’s departure and Neto’s underwhelming season, wide attacking options have become a clear priority with the Blues expected to continue to add depth and competition in that area ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
