Reece James and Chris Nkunku react to Chelsea teammate’s message after his exit

Reece James and Christopher Nkunku are among those who have reacted to a Chelsea teammate’s post after his loan departure from the club.

Chelsea saw several players leave during the January transfer window, with many options that were signed for squad depth heading out on loan.

Renato Veiga was unhappy at Chelsea and left to join Juventus whilst Joao Felix has already expressed a desire to stay at AC Milan after just a couple of weeks leaving Stamford Bridge.

Axel Disasi also left the club on loan to join Aston Villa until the end of the season with no option or obligation to buy.

Settling to life in Birmingham, he shared an update on social media prompting responses from his former Chelsea teammates.

Axel Disasi swapped Chelsea for Aston Villa in search of more game time

Disasi shared an Instagram post after making his full debut for Aston Villa in their 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on 15 February. His former Chelsea teammates, James and Nkunku, liked the post, while Malo Gusto commented “Enjoy my friend” (translated from French).

Nkunku was also linked with a move away from Chelsea in January, has since stepped up as the team’s only viable option up front following Nicolas Jackson’s injury.

Other former teammates, including Robert Sanchez, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Jackson, also liked the post. Chelsea players frequently maintain contact with their ex-teammates after they leave, as shown when Marc Cucurella posted a humorous comment on Veiga’s post after his departure from the club.

Under Enzo Maresca, Disasi struggled to secure regular playing time, making just four Premier League starts. Across 18 appearances in all competitions, he managed two goals and two assists, but his inconsistent role led to his decision to leave the club.

Disasi looking to rejuvenate his career after Chelsea exit

Tottenham had shown interest in Disasi, but the Frenchman ultimately chose to move to Emery’s side. Villa had also considered a permanent move for Disasi, worth £50 million, but they eventually settled for a loan deal instead.

With the team currently fighting for a Champions League spot, this move could provide the defender the opportunity to prove himself as a top Premier League centre-back by earning more playing time.

Other recent loanees from Chelsea, such as Veiga and Felix, have enjoyed new experiences at their respective clubs, and it could be just a matter of time before Disasi follows suit.
