Reece James and Enzo Fernandez react to Caicedo’s emotional message after Chelsea masterclass

Moises Caicedo shared a heartfelt message to the Chelsea supporters after the side lifted the Conference League.

Chelsea ended their season in the best possible fashion, securing Champions League qualification last weekend before capping it off with a dramatic win over Real Betis to win the Conference League.

Enzo Maresca raised concerns among Chelsea fans when he opted to drop both Reece James and Levi Colwill, and those doubts only grew when Abde Ezzalzouli gave Betis the lead. But the Blues responded in style, with Cole Palmer once again stepping up to deliver for Chelsea when it mattered most.

Palmer grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck, producing two decisive assists in quick succession—first picking out Enzo Fernandez with a pinpoint cross before going on a dazzling run to set up Nicolas Jackson for the second.

Jadon Sancho also got on the scoresheet, and Caicedo wrapped up the win, ensuring Chelsea ended their campaign with another European trophy added to their collection.

After the full-time whistle, Caicedo took a moment to thank the fans with an emotional message, recognising their support through what has been a challenging yet ultimately successful season.

Moises Caicedo celebrates Chelsea success after Conference League win

Caicedo shared an emotional message with Chelsea supporters after winning his first trophy with the club. The midfielder posted on Instagram following the Conference League triumph and said: “Champions! My first title with this badge.

“Thank God, my family, and everyone who’s been with me on this journey. Grateful for the goal, the team, and this unforgettable moment.

“God is faithful and makes your dreams come true.”

His performances this season have been vital to Chelsea’s progress, and he was deservedly recognised earlier this month as Caicedo won Chelsea’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.

It marks a remarkable turnaround for the Ecuadorian, who had a difficult debut campaign after his £115 million move from Brighton in 2023.

This season, however, he’s been ever-present—making 45 appearances in all competitions and featuring in every single Premier League fixture and contributed two goals and five assists from midfield.

Chelsea fans have been full of praise for Caicedo’s consistency and influence, with many now seeing his hefty price tag as increasingly justified.

Chelsea open contract talks with Moises Caicedo amid Real Madrid interest

Despite still having six years left on his current contract, Chelsea have opened discussions with Caicedo over a new deal.

While some reports have speculated that the talks may relate to a release clause in his existing agreement, it is also believed the club want to fend off growing interest from Real Madrid.

The Blues aren’t under immediate threat of losing him, but a renewal and possibly including a wage increase appear imminent. After a season that’s firmly established him as a key figure in Maresca’s plans, any improved terms would be more than deserved.
