Reece James and Moises Caicedo react excitedly as Chelsea agree another signing

Reece James and Moises Caicedo joined their Chelsea teammates in reacting as the club confirmed yet another new arrival this summer.

The Blues have continued their tradition of a busy transfer window under Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly, with several fresh faces arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had already secured the signings of Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr ahead of the Club World Cup, ensuring all three were registered for the tournament.

Departures have also begun, with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga sealing a £5 million move to Arsenal after their London rivals activated his release clause.

The Chelsea hierarchy appear to be backing Enzo Maresca following his impressive first season in charge, where he delivered a Champions League place and lifted the Europa Conference League trophy.

Now, the club have confirmed another new addition to bolster the squad as preparations continue for the new campaign.

Chelsea announce £60m deal for Joao Pedro

It was confirmed on 2 July that Chelsea have completed the signing of Brighton forward Joao Pedro in a deal worth £60 million.

The club announced the news on Instagram with the caption: “The boy from Brazil” alongside his official unveiling video.

The post quickly gathered plenty of engagement from current players, with club captain James, Caicedo and Tosin Adarabioyo all liking the announcement.

Pedro also received well-wishes from several of his now-former Brighton teammates. Tariq Lamptey and Carlos Baleba both liked the post, while Pervis Estupinan commented: “Congratulations, God bless you brother.”

Chelsea beat stiff competition for the Brazilian’s signature, with Newcastle holding advanced talks with Pedro before the Blues swooped in to secure the deal.

He enjoyed a standout season at Brighton, earning a Premier League Young Player of the Season nomination after scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists across all competitions.

As reported by Football Insider back in May, Pedro had already expressed his desire to join Chelsea once the club made their interest known — and that move has now been finalised.

Chelsea face big decision over Nicolas Jackson’s future

With Pedro adding further competition in the forward line, Nicolas Jackson could leave Chelsea, with Maresca growing frustrated with his inconsistent form.

Football Insider revealed that Aston Villa have already made a preliminary approach for Jackson, with Unai Emery keen to reunite with the Senegal striker.

It remains to be seen whether the striker will push for a move, but with attacking options increasing, he could be set to fall further down the pecking order under Maresca.
