Reece James sends message to Chelsea fans with injury update

Chelsea captain Reece James has taken to social media to give fans an update after suffering yet another injury setback.

The 24-year-old suffered yet another hamstring injury ahead of the Premier League season and is yet to feature in a competitive game under new manager Enzo Maresca.

James was expected to return to action last month, but his comeback was delayed as Chelsea’s medical team were dissatisfied with his rehabilitation and cautious about rushing him back.

Chelsea have done just fine without their captain, winning four, drawing one, and losing one in their opening six Premier League games.

The right-back missed 38 games across all competitions for Chelsea due to a similar injury last season as the club hobbled to a sixth-place Premier League finish.

Frenchman Malo Gusto has proved to be a worthy understudy, providing six assists in 27 Premier League games but he has also had injury issues, missing three games so far this season.

James took to Instagram to let fans know that he is working on his Chelsea return and is looking forward to getting back to action.

After an impressive start to the campaign, the West London side are well and truly in the frame for Champions League qualification this season.

They next face Belgian side Gent in their Europa Conference League league phase opener at Stamford Bridge on Thursday (October 3).
