Reece James sends two-word message to Pedro Neto after Chelsea win

Chelsea captain Reece James took to social media following the Blues’ comfortable 3-1 victory over Wolves in the Premier League.

The Blues opened the scoring with a goal from Tosin Adarabioyo, who continued his impressive scoring run. However, Wolves equalised after a mistake by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez allowed Matt Doherty to find the net.

In the second half, Enzo Maresca’s side regained control, with Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke adding to the tally to secure all three points.

James, who made his first Premier League start since November following a hamstring injury, took to Instagram after the match. On his story, he directed a message to Wolves winger Pedro Neto, calling him “My brother.”

Chelsea need Reece James back to his best to recover form

It’s been a challenging season for James, as injuries have continued to plague the defender, limiting him to just four Premier League appearances before the match against Wolves.

He has missed 21 matches this season under Maresca, adding to the 38 games he was unavailable for last year [TransferMarkt].

Due to his recurring injuries, players like Malo Gusto and Josh Acheampong have risen through the ranks, intensifying speculation about a potential departure for the Chelsea captain.

However, his’ performance and connections with teammates like Neto show he still has plenty to offer.

Football Insider Verdict

Maresca’s recent comments about James, where he suggested a preference against full-backs who “go up and down” the pitch, have faced criticism from fans.

Supporters clearly back James, as his quality continues to shine in games like the one against Wolves and in his recent FA Cup return against Morecambe.

However, his future in west London may depend on his ability to stay fit and adapt to Maresca’s system or prove his value in a changing setup.
