Reece James, Tosin Adarabioyo react to four-word message from ex-Chelsea star

Chelsea captain Reece James and defender Tosin Adarabioyo reacted to a message from a former teammate on social media.

The Blues have enjoyed a busy summer competing in the Club World Cup (CWC) and recruiting heavily in a bid to improve the talents on offer to Enzo Maresca.

The West London club’s latest game in the tournament was marred by a huge delay due to the threat of lightning, but Chelsea endured to claim a 4-1 win over Benfica.

With the Blues now set to face off against Palmeiras in the quarter-finals of the CWC, fans will finally get a first-hand look at new winger Estevao, who will join Maresca’s side after the culmination of the tournament.

And supporters of the Premier League side may also get a chance to watch Joao Pedro in a Chelsea shirt, as the new signing is set to jet out to the USA to join up with the Blues.

Chelsea stars react to Willian’s Club World Cup message

Former Chelsea star Willian shared several images alongside notable FIFA representatives and former players on Instagram, including president Gianni Infantino, on Instagram, captioned: “FIFA Club World Cup”.

The post was liked by James, who played alongside the Brazilian at the beginning of his career with his boyhood side, and Adarabioyo, who shared a pitch with the winger during their time at rivals Fulham.

Football Insider Verdict

If there is one lesson that European fans have learnt this summer, it is not to underestimate South American sides, particularly the Brazilian ones.

Due to the limited exposure to the leagues, and perhaps a little bit of hubris, many expected the CWC to simply be an exercise in whether or not the big European sides would get bored of hammering the ball into the back of their opposition’s net again, and again, and again.

But instead, PSG, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Porto, and Chelsea themselves found out the hard way that the Brazilian Serie A had sent some seriously difficult teams to deal with, to the USA.

Palmeiras may be headlined by Estevao, but their other two attacking options, former Barcelona wonderkid Vitor Roque, and Allan (not the one who used to play for Everton), will be a major threat for the Blues’ backline.

However, Chelsea showed in their win against Benfica their ability to endure difficult circumstances, and with plenty of talent to call on themselves, they will still be the favourites to claim a place in the semi-finals.
