The news revealed by Brendan Rodgers that Tom Rogic faces another eight weeks out injured with a knee problem couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Hoops.
With the Bhoys only a month away from their Europa League last 32 clash with Zenit, they are in the middle of an injury crisis.
Not only is Rogic out for the foreseeable future, but new arrival Marvin Compper is out for a month with a calf injury, Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths have issues and Jonny Hayes and Patrick Roberts are long-term injury victims.
Thankfully for the Bhoys and their supporters, they can help stop the crisis by bringing in some new signings as soon as possible in the January transfer window.
Rodgers has previously claimed that he only wants players who will add something to the first-team squad, and those are the type of players needed now.
Even if is only a player who will feature in a few games between now and the end of the season, it’s better to get a new player in rather than rush a player back from long-term injury.
Ryan Christie would be the ideal player for this situation but it is unlikely that the Hoops will be able to recall him from his loan with Aberdeen.
The injury situation is starting to reach boiling point with the fans – some new signings would help matters simmer down for a while.
