Reiss Nelson has ‘real chance’ of finalising West Ham move – sources

West Ham have a “real chance” of signing Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that talks have taken place between the clubs and the player to see if there’s potential for a deal to happen.

The 24-year-old ticks many boxes for the Irons as a young English player who can play anywhere across the forward line and as a wide player.

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that West Ham had opened preliminary talks over a possible deal, and those have been ongoing ever since.

Given that the attacker is under contract at Emirates Stadium until 2027, sources say that he would command a fee of £20-25million.

That would be good business for Arsenal, considering he’s a homegrown player who would represent pure profit regarding the profit and sustainability calculations.

West Ham are in the market for attacking players to boost Julen Lopetegui’s options, which would also make this a positive deal for the Hammers.

West Ham signing Reiss Nelson could benefit the player

A summer transfer could also be beneficial to Nelson himself, given the lack of opportunities he’s had in the last 18 months.

Despite showing glimpses of what he’s capable of in an Arsenal shirt, he only made 15 appearances in the Premier League last season.

The versatile attacker has played 89 times in all competitions throughout his time at the Gunners, contributing eight goals and nine assists.

Everton

It isn’t just the attacking area of the team that the Irons are looking to strengthen this summer though, as they also want more options at the back.

Football Insider revealed that West Ham are closing in on the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton.

In other news, West Ham could agree deal for Everton star.
