Huge Newcastle boost as star back in training and fit for Saturday – reliable journalist
Matt Ritchie is set to be in the running to make the starting XI for the visit of Huddersfield Town to St James’ Park on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Scottish international pulled out of the international setup amidst an injury concern and was reportedly set to undergo tests.
But it would seem any concerns have been allied as Lee Ryder, chief sports writer for the Newcastle Chronicle, Tweeted the news that the 28-year-old is expected to be back in full training on Thursday and will be in contention for the Huddersfield game following a positive assessment.
Matt Ritchie expected back in full training for #nufc today. Withdrawn as a precaution and assessed yesterday. Back in contention for the weekend.

Football Insider verdict:
This is fantastic news for the Magpies and Rafa Benitez as they continue their bid to ensure their Premier League survival is confirmed as soon as possible. The 28-year-old midfielder has scored two goals from the centre of the park, including a crucial effort that saw the Tyneside outfit walk away with an unlikely three points against Manchester United in February. The Scottish winger has formed a great understanding with Brazilian loanee Kenedy since his arrival in January and the duo have been a massive part of the club’s recent upturn in results. Four points is now the difference between themselves and the bottom three but Ritchie is a must in the side in order for the club to continue progressing up the table.
In other Newcastle United news, Magpies will land deal of the summer if they beat Everton to midfield kingpin available on a free.
