Reliable journalist details major Leeds development in hunt for PL forward, £4m bid reported
Leeds United are interested in signing West Brom forward Tyler Roberts but a deal does not look as though it will happen, according to a reliable journalist.
Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday night that while Leeds are keen on Roberts, 19, they may not be able to get a deal done in time for Wednesday night’s transfer deadline.
@PhilHayYEP Are we still trying for the lad Roberts from West Brom…. not proven I know, but there was talk of us bidding for him.
You see him being a possibly before the deadline?

The Daily Mail has previously reported that the Whites had a £4million bid for Roberts knocked back by the Baggies, who have offered him a new contract.
However now, in a major development, any chance of signing the pacey striker appears to be dead.
The Wales Under-21 international, who is also said to be wanted by Rangers and Marseille, could leave the Hawthorns at the end of the season when his current deal expires, meaning that he could be snapped up by a non-English could for as little as £300,000.
Roberts had been on loan at Walsall for the first-half of the season but has recently returned to the Hawthorns.
He made 19 appearances while on loan at the Bescot, scoring five goals in the process.
The Premier League forward has also previously had loan stints at Shrewsbury and Oxford while only ever making one senior appearance for West Brom.
Football Insider verdict
Roberts is an outstanding young talent and would be a top addition for Leeds, but it seems that any potential deal for the Welsh youngster is dead until at least the summer when his contract expires at West Brom. The Welsh teenager is set for a bright future and the Baggies seem very keen on keeping hold of him, especially by rejecting a £4million bid when he could go for peanuts in a few months’ time. Leeds have had a good recent history with former youth players from the Hawthorns. Chris Wood has been one of the best strikers to grace Elland Road since their relegation from the Premier League and Kemar Roofe has been in decent form this season.
