Reliable journalist details major development on Rangers senior player after approach from Euro club
Rangers are yet to receive a bid from Benevento for defender Bruno Alves despite reports claiming that a deal had been agreed, according to a reliable journalist.
Daily Express reporter Bruce Archer claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday night that the Italian Serie A side have approached the Light Blues with an enquiry about Alves, 36, but are yet to make an offer.

The Daily Record had earlier reported that Rangers had agreed a deal with the European club and that Alves had promised he would make a decision on Sunday whether he wanted to ditch Glasgow for Southern Italy.
However now, in a major development, that does not appear to be the case and Alves is not as near to quitting Ibrox as first thought.
The Portugal international was signed from Italian outfit Cagliari in the summer under Pedro Caixinha’s mass overhaul of the squad.
Despite his vast experience with top clubs around Europe, Alves has been a huge flop since moving to Rangers and with him said to be on such high wages, not many fans will be gutted to see the senior player leave after making just 17 appearances in all competitions.
Football Insider verdict
Rangers should not be too rough-handed in trying to offload Alves. It is important that the Portuguese defender is off the wagebill so if that means letting him leave for a very minimal fee then so be it. The centre-back has not had a happy time in Glasgow. He was widely reported to have fallen out with Graeme Murty when he was named on the bench after Caixinha was sacked and he has been criticised by fans for being injured around Old Firm clashes with Celtic. Rangers fans were particularly displeased when he went off 18 minutes into the 0-0 draw at Parkhead in December, such is the animosity towards the ex-Porto man.
