Reliable journalist: Tottenham make emphatic decision in reported £30m attacker pursuit

By Amir Mir

Tottenham are “not likely” to make a move for Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha during this transfer window, according to a reliable journalist.

The Guardian’s deputy editor Ed Aarons has claimed on his personal Twitter account that Spurs are unlikely to make a new bid for the 24-year-old.

It was previously claimed by the Guardian that Spurs could make a £30million offer for the Palace attacker this month.

Zaha has been in fine form for a struggling Palace side this season, scoring four goals and supplying eight assists in 19 Premier League games.

He is now due to link up with the Ivory Coast national team where he will participate in the Africa Cup of Nations which starts on January 14.

Football Insider verdict:

Tottenham should wait before they make a big money move for Wilfred Zaha. The former Manchester United player has in recent seasons shown a lack of consistency but he is beginning to show this term what he has to offer. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino should wait until the summer to see if Zaha makes that transition from an inconsistent attacking threat to a consistent one.  But one thing is for sure, if there is any Premier League manager that will get the best out of young talent then the Argentine, as proven with the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Danny Rose, is the one to do that.

In other Tottenham transfer news, this report suggests that the career of this senior player is coming to an end.
