Reliable journalist: West Ham have not made big-money offer for star striker

By Matt Farr

West Ham have not made a £20million offer for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, according to a Sky Sports journalist.

Kaveh Solhekol – who works for Sky Sports – claims that the club have not made any offer for the Celtic goalscorer.

A further report on Sky Sports, citing an unnamed senior source at West Ham, repeats the claim.

A number of sources, including the Daily Mail and the Mirror, had earlier reported that the Hammers had offered a sum close to their club record transfer fee in a bid to land Celtic’s star performer this month.

The signing of Swansea’s Andre Ayew for £20.5 million in the summer remains the club’s record transfer deal.

Solhekol revealed the latest development in the Moussa Dembele transfer saga on his Twitter account.

Dembele has been in sensational form for Celtic this season, scoring 19 goals in 36 appearances since arriving as Brendan Rodgers’ first summer signing.

The 20-year-old striker has been drawing the plaudits, and his displays have caught the eye of several foreign suitors, including West Ham.

The Insider column on the club’s official website had earlier revealed that a £20 million bid had been submitted for a player from Scotland, but it did not name Dembele as the target.

The Hammers are looking to recruit a new striker in the transfer window, and have also targeted Premier League veteran Jermain Defoe and Brentford’s Scott Hogan.

The Mail claim that West Ham have had a £6million offer for Defoe rejected by Sunderland, while the Mail also claim that the club has held talks with Brentford over a £10million deal for Hogan.

In other West Ham news, Slaven Bilic must axe this underperforming star if he wants to beat Manchester City on Friday.
