Reliable journalist: West Ham in pole position to sign 29-year-old playmaker, two sides close

West Ham are looking to end a month-long transfer saga by meeting Hull City’s valuation of Robert Snodgrass, according to a reliable journalist.
The Telegraph claims that the Hammers are set to table a bid worth £8million, and could reach Snodgrass’ price tag of £10million with performance-related add-ons.
Former senior Sky Sports reporter Graeme Bailey also claimed on his personal Twitter account that Slaven Bilic’s side are in pole position for the Scotland international.

The east London side are believed to have already a tabled a bid of around £6million for the former Leeds and Norwich star.
However, that was rejected by Hull’s new boss Marco Silva, who remains desperate to keep his top scorer as he looks to avoid relegation after taking over at the start of January.

Snodgrass, who is known for his wonderful set-piece ability, was left out of the matchday squad to face Chelsea on Sunday which will encourage Hammers boss Bilic.
Hull’s number 10 has been in magnificent form this season, having a hand in half of his side’s 20 Premier League goals, scoring seven himself and providing three assists.
Football Insider verdict:
The Hammers are desperate for a new playmaker, and a player who is able to find the back of the net from a free-kick. Dimitri Payet is currently that man, but his future remains unclear at the London Stadium with former side Marseille desperate to bring him back to the south of France, and Payet refusing to play for the Hammers. Left-footed Snodgrass, who can play out wide or in the number 10 role like Payet, can replace the France international’s precision and flair on the ball, as well as his ability to score a direct free-kick or provide a dangerous, curling delivery for the likes of target man Andy Carroll to attack. With many overseas signings struggling at the London Stadium since their summer move, including the likes of Simone Zaza, Havard Nordtveit and Gokhan Tore, proven Premier League experience is crucial and Snodgrass provides that.
