Renato Veiga and Nicolas Jackson react to Filip Jorgensen’s Chelsea message
Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen sent a heartfelt message to fans on social media after the team’s latest step towards silverware.
Following a 2-1 win in Copenhagen, in which Enzo Maresca was criticised for his treatment of Shim Mheuka, Chelsea narrowly beat the Danish side thanks to a goal from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Despite the Italian manager once again being criticised, this time for his treatment of Josh Acheampong, the Blues progressed, as they look to become the first side to win the Champions League, Europa League, and the Conference League.
As a result, Chelsea will now face Polish side, Legia Waszawa, in the quarter-finals of the Conference League, and on-loan Blues star Renato Veiga reacted to a message from his teammate after the game.
Filip Jorgensen tells Chelsea fans ‘thank you’
Following the narrow win over FC Copenhagen, Chelsea’s Danish goalkeeper posted a series of images of himself in action on Instagram, captioned: “Quarterfinals. Thank you for the support.”
Veiga, on-loan at Juventus, and injured striker Nicolas Jackson both liked the post, showing support for Jorgensen who has featured more regularly between the sticks for the Blues in recent weeks.
| Chelsea next four fixtures | Competition | Date |
| Arsenal (A) | Premier League | 16 March |
| Tottenham (H) | Premier League | 3 April |
| Brentford (A) | Premier League | 6 April |
| Legia Warszawa (A) | Conference League | 10 April |
Robert Sanchez has been the de facto first-choice under Maresca since the Italian took over in the summer, but some poor performances from the Spaniard have led to more opportunities for the former Villareal goalkeeper.
With just 10 Premier League games remaining this season, both goalkeepers will be looking to use the league, and the Conference League to prove themselves worthy of being number one at Stamford Bridge.
Renato Veiga’s lack of game time at Juventus a concern for Chelsea
Football Insider Verdict
Despite Juventus being knocked out of the Champions League by PSV Eindhoven, and losing ground in the Serie A title race, Veiga impressed in Italy initially.
The defender was dubbed the “new wall” by manager Thiago Motta, and looked set for a regular starting spot for the rest of the season.
However, after signing Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle in January, Veiga has fallen out of favour in Turin, featuring only five times in all competitions.
Good performances have not been enough for the Portuguese defender, as it seems Motta has favoured bedding Kelly into the squad, with the Englishman joining permanently in the summer.
This will come as concern to the Chelsea hierarchy, who undoubtedly wanted to see their young star used more frequently in his time in Italy, ahead of a summer return.
