Renato Veiga, Robert Sanchez react to Chelsea’s Filip Jorgensen ahead of LAFC clash
Renato Veiga and Robert Sanchez reacted to a message from Chelsea teammate Filip Jorgensen ahead of their Club World Cup clash with Los Angeles FC.
The Blues are preparing for their first match of the revamped competition, and are one of two English sides competing, alongside Man City.
But even before proceedings have gotten underway, fans of the club have voiced their discontent at Enzo Maresca‘s squad selection.
Djordje Petrovic has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for the competition, despite enjoying a strong season on loan at French side Strasbourg.
The Blues were plagued with goalkeeping issues last season, as both Jorgensen and Sanchez endured an error-ridden campaign.
Pete O’Rourke previously revealed to Football Insider that Chelsea were willing to sell Petrovic in a bid to revamp the position.

Filip Jorgensen sends message to Chelsea fans ahead of LAFC clash
Ahead of their opening match against LAFC, Jorgensen shared several messages on Instagram, captioned: “Club World Cup”.
The post was liked by Sanchez, with whom the Danish shot-stopper will compete for a spot in Maresca’s side, and Veiga, who will play no part in the competition after being left out of the squad.
Renato Veiga facing uncertain Chelsea future after CWC omission
Football Insider Verdict
Veiga spent the second half of the season on loan at Juventus, after being allowed to leave Chelsea temporarily.
The Blues had initially been keen to sell the Portuguese player, but changed their stance as the winter transfer window drew to a close.
According to BBC Sport, a source close the player said “the defender had expected to return to Chelsea to play in the competition”, and that Juventus had wanted to extend Veiga’s loan for the competition in the USA.
However, the Old Lady made no effort, with an “expectation the Blues would not release him” for the tournament.
Being left out of the squad does not bode well for Veiga’s long-term future at Chelsea, and it would be no surprise to see the defender push for a permanent exit this summer.
