Reo Hatate and Celtic teammate set to quit for PL giants after source’s reveal – expert
Frank McAvennie has suggested Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi could quit Celtic for the Premier League next year.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said none of the players at Parkhead are ready for the step up to the English top flight but suggested Hatate is the closest.
On 29 April, sources told this site that the Celts are preparing for Premier League bids for Kyogo this summer with mid-table Crystal Palace and relegation-threatened Southampton believed to be interested in his services.
The Parkhead club have no intention of letting their star striker, whose contract runs until 2025, leave for less than £15million this summer.
On 29 March, Football Insider revealed that Brighton are plotting to sign Hatate and have sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old during an impressive campaign.
The midfielder’s contract runs until 2026 after signing a four-and-a-half year deal in January 2022.
McAvennie suggested the Hoops will get another season out of the pair before they head south.
“I do not think there are many players that are going to be leaving Celtic to go to the Premier League,” he told Football Insider.
“I think Hatate is the only one that I know could walk into a team and do really well. But I do not think he is going to go this year.
“I think if he goes it will be next year maybe.

“Would somebody take Kyogo in the Premier League? He is tiny.
“I think he could replicate his form in the Premier League, but not yet. If he starts scoring in Europe, the following year people will be in for him.“
