Reo Hatate backed to finalise Celtic deal after three stars agree new terms – expert
Reo Hatate has been backed to follow his teammates and sign a contract extension at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie said Brendan Rodgers still needs to get a lot of players out this summer but Hatate is one he would love to see commit his future to the club.
Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda and Callum McGregor all penned contract extensions earlier this month.
Kyogo and Maeda put pen to paper on new four-year deals at Parkhed whilst McGregor extended his stay until 2028.
Although Hatate’s current deal runs until 2026, he has been attracting a lot of interest from Premier League sides.
Earlier this year (29 March), Football Insider revealed that Brighton had been scouting the 25-year-old during an impressive 2022-23 campaign and are interested in making a move for the midfielder.
When asked if Celtic fans should expect to see any other players signing extensions in the coming weeks, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think he [Rodgers] has still got to get a lot of people out the door.
“There are players there that are not going to be involved.
“I would love to see Hatate get an extension. It would not make any difference even if they did because if he plays as well as he has been then people will want him.
“He is very much a player that could shine in the Premier League, he could adapt to it.

“If they give him a new contract it just means they will get more money for him, which could be a saving grace.
“Hatate I would like to see tied down then if he leaves we will get more money for him and if he stays he is keeping up with Kyogo, McGregor and Maeda.“
