Celtic and Liverpool are both set are set to have a scout in attendance at Red Star Belgrade’s top flight derby clash with Partizan Belgrade in what is set to be a mega European transfer mission, according to a report.
Serbian news outlet Informer claim on their website that the two British clubs will be joined by a whole host of clubs from across Europe in watching the clash on Saturday, with Italian giants Juventus and German side Wolfsburg among those named as onlookers.
The clash will give Red Star a chance to further elongate their lead at the top of the table, with victory meaning they will sit over double the amount of points ahead of second-placed Partizan.
It is said that numerous players will be the focus of attentions for the scouts, who have filled out the scouting allocation for seats, with 18-year-old centre back Svetozar Markovic and 19-year-old winger Luka Adzic named as two who will be “especially” watched.
Football Insider verdict
Serbia has been a consistent source of proven footballing talent across the years and it appears as though both Celtic and Liverpool are looking to unearth the next star from the Slavic region. While only those in the know will be aware of exactly who the respective clubs will be watching, the likes of Markovic and Adzic certainly seem like potential targets, with their age and ability both lending them well to a move to a more reputable European side. Still, with the vast amount of names reportedly in attendance on Saturday, it appears as though there could be a fight for any number of players – although Liverpool and Juventus would certainly be considered as being in the driving seat over their rivals.
