Report delivers positive update on crucial Celtic talks after bombshell claim
Celtic are feeling confident that they will come to an agreement with midfield star Tom Rogic as contract talks rumble on, according to a report.
The Daily Record claim on their website that the Hoops are still engaged in discussion with the 25-year-old, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2019, leaving him free to agree a pre-contract agreement, and therefore leave for free, next January.
However, it was claimed by Australian news outlet The World Game on Friday that Rogic had outright rejected an offer from the Bhoys, which would have been a bombshell in their hopes of keeping him at Parkhead.
However the Daily Record’s report suggests a much more positive update on the crucial talks, and hint that a deal seems more likely than not.
Rogic, 25, has been a regular first team star for Celtic since his arrival in 2014, and has a total of 119 appearances under his belt for the club.
This season has seen him turn out 28 times across all competitions, including in 12 league matches, but has found himself on the sidelines for much of the campaign as a result of a knee injury which sidelined him for 11 top flight games.
He made his return to action in the 0-0 draw with St Johnstone, while played 45 minutes in the 3-0 defeat to Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League.
In other Celtic news, Chris Sutton has slammed Brendan Rodgers for his transfer activity at the club.
