Dundee have not received an offer from Celtic for their highly-rated centre-back Jack Hendry ahead of the January window opening, according to a report.
The Evening Telegraph claims in a development that the Dens Park side have not been approached by the Scottish champions for the defender.
The Daily Mail has previously reported that the Hoops had lodged an offer worth £500,000 for the top-flight ace, who is said to have drawn comparisons to Manchester City’s John Stones.
The report claims that the Dark Blues would want more money than the rumoured amount offered by the Bhoys.
The 22-year-old has been receiving rave reviews for his performances so far this season, and the Hoops could see him as the long-term replacement for the out-of-favour Jozo Simunovic, who Burnley are interested in singing, according to the Daily Mail.
Football Insider verdict
It isn’t surprising that Dundee are playing hardball with one of their biggest assets. They are currently locked in a relegation battle, and will want to keep Hendry at the club for as long as they can to ensure that they keep their place in the Scottish Premiership. As the old saying goes though, money talks, and it seems likely that if Brendan Rodgers really wants the player then he will arrive in Glasgow in January. The rumours surrounding Jozo Simunovic’s future could make this transfer even more likely to go though as Rodgers won’t want to be left short of numbers in central defence.
