Report: Leeds in talks to seal January midfielder deal, 18-month contract planned
By Harry Sykes
Pablo Hernandez has held talks with Leeds about signing for the club permanently in January.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claim the Yorkshire giants originally planned to offer the Spain international an 18-month contract made up of an initial six-month deal with the option of a year’s extension.
It is said that a fresh agreement is now set to be finalised between the club and Hernandez when the winter window opens next month.
Manager Garry Monk revealed on Thursday afternoon that he expects the 31-year-old attacking midfielder to convert his six-month loan with the Yorkshire giants into a permanent transfer.
Hernandez, who has won four caps for his country, joined Leeds initially in August from Qatari club Al-Arabi.

Monk, who has been without Hernandez for the past month due to a hamstring injury and has ruled him out for up to another fortnight, said he expected a fresh agreement to be secured once the January window sprung open.
“That’s the plan,” Monk said to the Yorkshire Evening Post. “Pablo’s committed to us, he’s enjoying his time here and he’s been a valuable player for us with his experience and quality.
“I don’t envisage a problem with that situation. I know Pablo wants to commit and from my understanding that’s the way it’ll be.”
This mean that Hernandez will not to return to the Middle East, where he moved after his exit from Swansea in the summer of 2014.
The Spaniard has settled in well at Elland Road after a period spent getting re-adjusted to the pace of the English game.
Deployed in a central attacking midfield role, Hernandez has made 15 Leeds appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and supplying two assists.
Leeds are making final preparation for Saturday’s league clash against Aston Villa at Elland Road as they aim to extend the eyeopening sequence of league results that has lifted them to fifth in the table.
