Report: Liverpool field approach for defender, Klopp prepared to loan him out

By Dominic Toner

Preston are interested in signing defender Connor Randall, according to a report.

The Mail claims that the Championship side have made an enquiry for Liverpool’s right-back over the possibility of either a loan or permanent move.

The report details that Jurgen Klopp is prepared to let the 20-year-old leave Anfield on loan to gain first-team experience.

Liverpool pair Adam Bogdan and Danny Ward are both currently out on loan in the Championship, while Jon Flanagan has been sent to Premier League rivals Burnley.

England defender Nathaniel Clyne has cemented his place as Liverpool’s preferred right-back and Randall is unlikely to dislodge him anytime soon.

Randall, who is a product of the club’s youth set-up, made his breakthrough to the senior squad last season under Klopp.

He made seven appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, with three of them coming in the Premier League.

The versatile player can also be deployed at centre-back or as a defensive-midfielder and this is something that may be useful for Preston.

Preston manager Simon Grayson has endured a difficult start to the season and his team sit in the relegation place after five matches, with just three points that they earned away at QPR.

In other Liverpool transfer news, they have submitted a £10million-plus bid for a wonderkid.
