Report: Liverpool one of five PL clubs eyeing teenage sensation ripping up league (not Sessegnon)
By Matt Farr
Liverpool have joined a host of elite clubs in the race to sign MLS wonderkid Alphonso Davies, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim that the Reds have been alerted after a series of promising displays from the 16-year-old winger, and could enter a bidding war in the summer for his services.
Davies, who plays for MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps, made his first-team debut for the club in June last year, but has since become a regular feature in the side.
He has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and supplying one assist, finding the back of the net during the CONCACAF Champions League win over New York Red Bulls last month.
Davies has been ripping it up in the CONCACAF Champions League in particular this season, but he has also made a big impression in their domestic MLS campaign.

The teenage sensation has signed a professional contract with the club until 2018, but Liverpool have reportedly joined the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Stoke and Arsenal in hot pursuit.
A Liberia-born Canada Under 2o international, Davies is a pacy left winger, but he can also operate in a number of other positions across the attack and the midfield, including as a secondary striker.
Football Insider verdict
Liverpool have recently been hit by an academy transfer ban, but that only applies to the acquisition of young talent from other English clubs, enabling them to continue their pursuit of Davies without further complications. Even at his tender age, Davies is already making a big impression on the other side of the pond, and Liverpool will be keen to ensure he does not fall into the hands of one of their Premier League rivals. The MLS is considered far below the standard of the Premier League, and it will be a massive jump for Davies, but his potential and current promise suggests he could have a future role to play in the division under the right guidance.
